Frequently Asked Questions

What shall we wear?

Please wear clean comfortable clothing that allows you and your child to move freely. It’s a good idea to layer your clothing as your body will warm-up during the class and cool down as we relax at the end.

What age group is Flow & Grow Family Yoga suitable for?

Flow & Grow Family Yoga is currently offering workshops and courses for parents/caregivers with children aged 3 to 5, and 6 to 12 years old.

When making a booking, please check carefully to ensure you've selected the right workshop/course and location for you.

If your child is younger than 3, please contact us. We are working on adding sessions for parents with older babies and toddlers during 2023.

Grown-ups must be at least 18 years of age.

Can I bring an extra child?

The short answer is: No.

The longer answer is: Our style of family yoga is designed to support, foster, and strengthen the special bond that exists between a child and their caregiver. We focus on one-on-one connection. Please see our Benefits of Parent-Child Yoga section for more information.

Is Flow & Grow Family Yoga for everyone?

Generally speaking, yes. However, please be aware that any physical activity, including yoga, involves a risk of accident, illness, injury, or death. We won’t be doing any death-defying stunts, but it is important that you are aware of any physical or mental conditions that may pose a risk to your or your child's health and safety.

Also, some kids prefer other activities - and that's fine! As my teacher Andrea Helten always says: Soccer is fun, too :)

We do ask you to seek medical clearance from your health practitioner if:

  • You are pregnant.*

  • Your doctor has ever said you have a heart condition AND that you should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor.

  • You feel pain in your chest when you engage in physical activity.

  • You’ve experienced chest pain during the past month while doing physical activity.

  • You lose your balance because of dizziness, or if you lose consciousness.

  • You have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by physical activity.

  • Your doctor is currently prescribing drugs for your blood pressure or a heart condition.

  • You know of any other reason why you should not do physical activity.

Please contact us if BEFORE you make a booking if any of the above apply to you, or if you have any concerns about your ability to participate in class.

We’re here to help!

*Please be aware that our Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance does not cover for pre-natal yoga. If you are pregnant and choose to participate, you do so entirely at your own risk.

Are your teachers trained in First Aid and CPR?

Yes. Our teachers hold a current Provide First Aid and CPR for adults and children certificate. Furthermore, our teachers hold a valid Working with Children Check and have RRHAN-EC (Mandatory Notification) training.

I have never done yoga before, is that a problem?

Not at all!

Flow & Grow’s style of parent-child-yoga is very different from a ‘normal’ adult or even kids yoga class. So whether you’re a novice or an experienced yogi – it doesn’t matter. Just come with an open mind and be ready to move and be silly!

What do we need to bring?

If you have one, please bring your own yoga mats: one for you and one for your child.

For sessions with 3-5 year olds, one mat for the two of you will be fine.

If you don’t have your own mats, please contact us prior to the start of the workshop to arrange for a hire mat (no extra cost).

You’ll also need:

  • plenty of water for you and your child

  • a small towel

  • a blanket

  • some hand lotion or similar (for possible hand/foot/face massage)

  • some snacks for after

What if my child or I get ill?

If either or both of you feel unwell, please exercise common sense and stay at home. Please contact Antje as soon as possible via SMS on 0403 937 582 to discuss your options.

If there is a waiting list and we can fill your spot, you will receive a full refund of the workshop fee. If not, we our standard cancellation policy applies - please see below.

What can we expect on the day of the workshop?

Please arrive 10 mins prior to the start of the workshop or session. Upon arrival, we’ll check your booking and answer any questions you may have.

We will ask you to take your shoes off and choose one of the premarked spots in the room for your yoga mats.

Each session usually begins with a quick introduction and checking in to see how everybody is. Sessions are structured around a particular theme that we will explore together through games and yoga postures that help release stress and anxiety and strengthen your bodies. We finish off with some relaxation exercises that may involve a massage or visualization.

Flow & Grow workshops and classes are full of fun and giggles, and laughter is one of the best ways to relieve stress and anxiety. At the same time, please be mindful of the other participants and take care to keep your attention on what is happening in the room.

Will there be a break?

Workshops or sessions that are 90 minutes or longer will include an official break.

Of course, you are welcome to rest, use the loo, or grab some fresh air at any time should you need to. Just be mindful of the other participants as you move through the space.

I am not the child’s parent. Can I still participate?

Yes, you can – we just need the written consent of the child’s parent/legal guardian that they allow you to participate in the workshop together. Please contact us at least 1 week prior to the start of the class to arrange for this.

What are your cancellation and refund policies?

As a mum, I know that planning ahead with children can be difficult. At the same time, I am a sole-trader business and need to make sure that my costs are covered.

If Flow & Grow cancels or postpones a workshop, you can choose to either have your booking moved to a new date, or receive a full refund (exclusive of the Humanitix booking fee.)
